Fairfax House is one of the finest Georgian townhouses in England. A classical architectural masterpiece, Fairfax House was originally the winter home of Viscount Fairfax. Its richly decorated interior was designed by York’s most distinguished eighteenth-century architect, John Carr. Extensively adapted in the twentieth century as a cinema and dance hall, Fairfax House was saved from decay and returned to its former glory by York Civic Trust in 1982-84.

Fairfax House came to The Micro Agency to help promote a new exhibition called The Cabinet of Curiosities.

After a successful project, The Micro Agency was asked to further enhance the Fairfax House website.

Branding

Fairfax House required some branding for their new Cabinet of Curiosites exhibition.

The Micro Agency aligned the branding to the Fairfax House branding with special focus on the use of typography and illustrations.

Fairfax House used the new exhibition branding on both digital and print.

Culture embraces The Micro Agency

We’re passionate about good design so you can imagine how excited we were to get involved in a project of this nature. The culture sector is an area of digital we have a lot of experience in within our previous roles so we were confident we could do this Georgian masterpiece justice.

In digital terms this was a relatively small project, but The Micro Agency jumped at the chance of being involved.

The Cabinet of Curiosities was wonderful to learn about. The historical gems that are hidden inside kept us hooked throughout the project.

The Micro Agency transported the magic, and mystery, online where visitors to the Fairfax House website can browse through the cabinet and discover the secrets within themselves.
