Harrogate District Consensus required branding that would be primarily used on the website, yet flexible enough to be used through multiple digital and print channels.

The most important factor was colour when putting the initial concepts together. We couldn’t any use any colour that may have inadvertently shown a bias to any political party. Conservatives – Blue. Labour – Red. Lib Dems – Yellow.

It also had to illustrate how community consensus was at the very heart of the website. “Us”, rather than “I” or “them”. So we highlighted that in the logo, headed off with a voters tick in a box.

Technology Powered Consensus

Harrogate District Consensus aims to enhance local democracy through the use of technology. By using Polis, they survey thousands of people in Harrogate, unearthing the best ideas and building consensus. Social media thrives on dividing people, whereas, by using Polis, they bring people together, without fear of cancelling people.

The Micro Agency built the website around Polis which enabled the team to run multiple conversations simultaneously and then reporting on the consensus points once a conversation ends.

The website also allows local political candidates, from all parties, to express their views.
